Grüner Veltliner and Kamptal - two things which are connected inseparably with
each other. Thus it has already seen our great-great-grandfather when he founded
the winery in 1898. From generation to generation our winery has developed steadily
into a modern wine estate with around 40 hectares of planted vines. As the Kamptal
is best known for its Grüner Veltliner, 70% of our own vineyards are planted
with "Grüner", whose origin goes way back into Roman times.
Our goal these days is to produce sophisticated wines in harmony with nature
and environment that best represent the Kamptal terroir.
Besides Grüner Veltliner which shows its strengths on more than 20 different
vineyards (Galgenberg, Wechselberg, Karl, Hasel, Offenberg, etc.) Riesling is
the second important variety which is to be found on the Strasser Gaisberg and
on the Kammerner Grub. Chardonnay and Pinot blanc also have a long time tradition
in our wine estate. With the reds Blauer Zweigelt is to be named the most important
red wine variety which matures classically in the "big cask" or part of it in
french barriques.
With the conditions created from the previous generations, we will continue
to work in their sense and set new accents for the future.
